Emiel de Bruijne obtained his bachelor’s degree in Dutch law from Utrecht University, followed by a master’s degree in European law from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. In January 2023, he also obtained a master’s degree in Dutch law, specialising in constitutional and administrative law, from the Open University in Heerlen.

From 2015 to 2017, Emiel worked at the Sustainability Directorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment as a legal assistant and policy advisor. The focus of his work was on the evaluation and development of legislation and regulations for the transition to a circular economy.

From 2017 to 2022, Emiel advised public and private organisations on European environmental legislation, including in the areas of waste, industrial emissions, chemicals and sustainable production, at an international consultancy firm.

At Paulussen, Emiel focuses on administrative law matters, including environmental law. In addition to Dutch and English, he is also fluent in spoken Arabic and German.
